Raise Your Words, Not Your Voice: Conscious Communication Strategies

Many deep emotions have been swirling in my head and heart lately. The pain, loss, judgment, hate, and violence that the world is experiencing is never far from my mind.

Racial Tension
Depression
War
Suicide
Terrorism

There seems to be a neverending stream of anger, sadness, and combative opinions that incite our collective fury.

It's painful but also essential to feel - to not allow ourselves to become desensitized to human suffering.

But, how much is too much?

There are strategies can we use to turn our defensive reactions into compassionate responses, so we don't lose our humanity in the chaos.

I shared some of my thoughts in my post, Five Ways to Strengthen Your Relationship and Empower Your Kids. But, there's more.

There is beauty in pain. It's not all bad.

Pain is just part of the merry-go-round of life. I can shut it out and sometimes do. But, what purpose does that serve me?

I crave the wild, emotional experiences which move me and transform me. I am fascinated with the subconscious and the emotions that rule our behavior.

I know that pain never comes without a purpose.

The heartache of my past has brought complexity and depth to my life and allowed me to share with others my path to healing, and the formula for creating stronger relationships with our children.

I've been thinking a lot about, "Where do I go from here? What can I share that will uplift and make a difference?"

I know you care about your kids and their well-being.

With everything going on in the world today, you have to make conscious communication an integral part of your parenting plan.
